This is the unique service that Otoliths-Lada provides. We are the only lab in the world that can determine the age of crustaceans using a novel technique developed in 2012 (Kilada et al. 2012).

It is hard to provide the age of crustaceans such as lobster and crab due to a unique phenomenon in which the animal loses its skin during its growth.

Otoliths-Lada Canada has developed the appropriate method to overcome this issue and can determine the age of some crustaceans using a novel method that we developed by processing hard structures in a special way to reveal the age bands. Otoliths-Lada Canada is the only lab in the world that has the enough experience and equipment to deal with crustaceans and to precisely determine their age.
This methodology was developed after more than ten years of research in this field and testing different species from around the world.
